Language
As in the rest of the UK, English is the official language of Scotland.
Gaelic is still spoken in parts of the western Highlands and in the Western Isles, with English as a second language.

Shopping Times
In general, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday shops are open from 9.00am to around 6.00pm. Late night shopping is usual on a Thursday – until 8.00pm. Weekend shopping hours tend to be Saturday 9:00am to 7:00pm, and Sunday 11:00am to 5:00pm.

A special arrangement has been made with Harvey Nichols to allow delegates and accompanying persons an exclusive shopping evening at the store on Monday 29th May from 7.15pm onwards.

Smoking
Smoking is enclosed public places is banned in Scotland. This includes premises like restaurants, bars, shops, cinemas, offices, hospitals, work vehicles and sports centres.
